InterContinental hotel

Continental hotel, when it was still part of the InterContinental hotel chain. The hotel was opened 1979 under InterContinental umbrella with the name Hotel Beograd InterContinental. It symbolised one of the first Western hotel chains entering the market of communist Yugoslavia that was experiencing growing tourism from the West. In addition to foreign visitors, throughout the 1980s, the luxurious hotel facilities also became popular with the local politicians, celebrities, and sports figures. In December 1991, the wedding ceremony between folk music star Lepa Brena and tennis player Slobodan Živojinović was held at the hotel. In 1990, InterContinental Beograd got some competition with the luxurious Hyatt Regency Belgrade being opened across the road.

After the break up of SFR Yugoslavia, the sanctions were imposed onto Serbia as well as total economic and international isolation. The hotel became pretty much empty. Financial growth plummeted to lowest levels, however InterContinental opposed the closure and continued upgrading facilities at their hotel in Belgrade. The restaurant in the hotel became popular with the Serbian nouveau riche population. Even though the prices were high it was still popular.

During the NATO bombing of Yugoslavia in 1999 the hotel was the place where political parties led their meetings and foreign diplomats stayed.

Željko Ražnatović, a mobster and prominent paramilitary leader during the Yugoslav Wars was shot and killed in the lobby of the hotel in 2000. The incident was broadcast across the world.

After sanctions were dropped against Serbia, democratic power was restored, tourism started to recover and the hotel started making profits.

On July 6, 2006 the hotel lost its InterContinental license.

Canada

Canada is a country occupying most of northern North America, extending from the Atlantic Ocean in the east to the Pacific Ocean in the west and northward into the Arctic Ocean. It is the world's second largest country by total area. Canada's common border with the United States to the south and northwest is the longest in the world.
The land occupied by Canada was inhabited for millennia by various groups of Aboriginal people. Beginning in the late 15th century, British and French expeditions explored, and later settled along, the Atlantic coast. France ceded nearly all of its colonies in North America in 1763 after the Seven Years' War. In 1867, with the union of three British North American colonies through Confederation, Canada was formed as a federal dominion of four provinces. This began an accretion of provinces and territories and a process of increasing autonomy from the United Kingdom. This widening autonomy was highlighted by the Statute of Westminster of 1931 and culminated in the Canada Act of 1982, which severed the vestiges of legal dependence on the British parliament.
A federation consisting of ten provinces and three territories, Canada is governed as a parliamentary democracy and a constitutional monarchy with Queen Elizabeth II as its head of state. It is a bilingual nation with both English and French as official languages at the federal level. One of the world's highly developed countries, Canada has a diversified economy that is reliant upon its abundant natural resources and upon trade—particularly with the United States, with which Canada has had a long and complex relationship. It is a member of the G8, G-20, NATO, OECD, WTO, Commonwealth, Francophonie, OAS, APEC, and UN.

Czech Republic

The Czech Republic is a country in Central Europe. The country borders Poland to the northeast, Germany to the west and northwest, Austria to the south and Slovakia to the east. The capital and largest city is Prague (Czech: Praha). The country is composed of the historic regions of Bohemia and Moravia, as well as parts of Silesia. The Czech Republic has been a member of NATO since 1999 and of the European Union since 2004. The Czech Republic is also a member of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE). As an OSCE participating State, the Czech Republic’s international commitments are subject to monitoring under the mandate of the U.S. Helsinki Commission. From 1 January 2009 to 1 July 2009, the Czech Republic held the Presidency of the Council of the European Union.
Following the Battle of Mohács in 1526, the Czech lands fell under Habsburg rule, becoming part of the Austrian Empire in 1804 and of Austria–Hungary in 1867. The independent Republic of Czechoslovakia was formed in 1918, following the collapse of the Austro-Hungarian empire after World War I. After the Munich Agreement, German occupation of Czechoslovakia and the consequent disillusion with the Western response and gratitude for the liberation of the major portion of Czechoslovakia by the Red Army, the Communist party won plurality (38%)in the 1946 elections.
In a 1948 coup d'état, Czechoslovakia became a communist-ruled state. In 1968, the increasing dissatisfaction culminated in attempts to reform the communist regime. The events, known as the Prague Spring of 1968, ended with an invasion by the armies of the Warsaw Pact countries (with the exception of Romania); the troops remained in the country until the 1989 Velvet Revolution, when the communist regime collapsed. On 1 January 1993, Czechoslovakia peacefully dissolved into its constituent states, the Czech Republic and Slovakia.
The Czech Republic is a pluralist multi-party parliamentary representative democracy. President Václav Klaus is the current head of state. The Prime Minister is the head of government (currently Jan Fischer). The Parliament has two chambers: the Chamber of Deputies and the Senate. It is also a member of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), the Council of Europe and the Visegrád Group.
The Czech Republic made economic reforms such as fast privatizations. Annual gross domestic product growth has been around 6% until the outbreak of the recent global economic crisis. The country is the first former member of the Comecon to achieve the status of a developed country according to the World Bank (2006)and the Human Development Index (2009), which ranks it as a "Very High Human Development" nation.

Greece

Greece is a country in southeastern Europe, situated on the southern end of the Balkan Peninsula. The country has land borders with Albania, the Republic of Macedonia and Bulgaria to the north, and Turkey to the east. The Aegean Sea lies to the east of mainland Greece, the Ionian Sea to the west, and the Mediterranean Sea to the south. Greece has the tenth longest coastline in the world at 14,880 km (9,246.00 mi) in length, featuring a vast number of islands (approximately 1400, 227 of which are inhabited), including Crete, the Dodecanese, the Cyclades, and the Ionian Islands among others. Eighty percent of Greece consists of mountains, of which Mount Olympus is the highest at 2,917 m (9,570.21 ft).

As such, it is the birthplace of democracy,Western philosophy, the Olympic Games, Western literature and historiography, political science, major scientific and mathematical principles, and Western drama, including both tragedy and comedy. This legacy is partly reflected in the 17 UNESCO World Heritage Sites that Greece is home to.
A developed country with a very high Human Development Index,Greece has been a member of what is now the European Union since 1981 and its Economic and Monetary Union since 2001, NATO since 1952,and the European Space Agency since 2005.It is also a founding member of the United Nations, the OECD, and the Black Sea Economic Cooperation Organization. Mexico

The United Mexican States is a federal constitutional republic in North America. It is bordered on the north by the United States; on the south and west by the Pacific Ocean; on the southeast by Guatemala, Belize, and the Caribbean Sea; and on the east by the Gulf of Mexico.Covering almost 2 million square kilometres (over 760,000 sq mi), Mexico is the fifth-largest country in the Americas by total area and the 14th largest independent nation in the world. With an estimated population of 111 million,[15] it is the 11th most populous country and the most populous Hispanophone country on earth. Mexico is a federation comprising thirty-one states and a Federal District, the capital city.
In Pre-Columbian Mesoamerica many cultures matured into advanced civilizations such as the Olmec, the Toltec, the Teotihuacan, the Zapotec, the Maya and the Aztec before the first contact with Europeans. In 1521, Spain conquered and colonized the territory, which was administered as the viceroyalty of New Spain which would eventually become Mexico as the colony gained independence in 1821. The post-independence period was characterized by economic instability, territorial secession and civil war, including foreign intervention, two empires and two long domestic dictatorships. The latter led to the Mexican Revolution in 1910, which culminated with the promulgation of the 1917 Constitution and the emergence of the country's current political system. Elections held in July 2000 marked the first time that an opposition party won the presidency from the Institutional Revolutionary Party.
As a regional power and currently the only Latin American member of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) since 1994, Mexico is firmly established as an upper middle-income country, and is considered a newly industrialized country and an emerging power. It has the 13th largest nominal GDP and the 11th largest by purchasing power parity. The economy is strongly linked to those of its North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) partners, especially the United States.

Computer Eye Strain Eye Exercises

1.Eat lots of fruits & veggies! Carrots, loaded with beta carotene are especially helpful in maintaining healthy eyes.

2.Avoid wearing contact lenses for more than 19 hours. This can cause permanent sight damage as well as extreme discomfort.

3Use allergen-reducing eye drops sparingly. Using an allergen-reducing eye drop during allergy season to 'get the red out' and sooth itchiness may help on a limited basis, but chronic daily use can actually make the problem worse.

4.Read the labels of eye drops carefully; many drops cannot be used while wearing contacts.

5.Press cold cucumber slices gently against eyes 10 minutes before going to sleep at night to prevent puffiness.

6.Wear UV protective sunglasses. Get polarized lenses, NOT just darker lenses. The lenses that only make the world darker will just make your pupils dilate and don't do a thing to stop the UV rays. Prolonged exposure to UV rays can harm your eyesight, protection in youth can help prevent loss of eyesight in later years.

7.Try not to spend so much time looking at your computer screen. (As a matter of fact, now would be a good time to give your eyes a break, since you're not doing anything too important.

8.Be sure to wear goggles or other eye protective wear when working with chemicals or any place with harmful airborne particulates.

9.Dont ever rub your eyes when you have something in your eye!

10.Exercise your eyes, too & also be sure to relax them.

How to apply red lipstick

Trend: Crimson, scarlet or postbox - as long as it's red, it's in fashion

Red lipstick is the stiletto heel of make-up,' says Terry Barber, director of make-up artistry at MAC. In other words, it's instant sexiness - a slick of glamour in a tube.
And ladies, you'd better get used to it, as next season red - voluptuous, waxy, carmine or vermilion - is back in the fashion spotlight once more.
It was everywhere on the catwalks for autumn/winter, lighting up shows including Dries Van Noten, Lanvin, Emporio Armani and Alexander McQueen. But, then, red lips have been around for a while.

'Pure red lipstick is as classic as a Chanel suit,' says Linda Wells, editor in chief of Allure magazine in the U.S. 'There are women who wouldn't wear anything else. But it also carries a certain responsibility with it.'

That responsibility is that wearing red makes you the centre of attention. So you had better get it right.
PREPARING YOUR LIPS
There are four steps you should observe before applying red lipstick, says Bethan Owens, make-up artist at Clinique.
First, exfoliate: 'Buff away any dead skin from the lips using a specific lipexfoliating cream or brush gently with a toothbrush.' Secondly, moisturise: 'Apply a balm such as Clinique's Superbalm Lip Treatment (£10) and then blot away any excess.' Thirdly, use a primer on the lips to make a more even surface. Lastly, to ensure the lipstick doesn't 'bleed' into the skin above and below the mouth, use a well-matched lip liner, which will also enable you to achieve the correct shape evenly - this is all before the colour goes on
CHOOSING A SHADE
Traditionally, make-up artists have agreed on the rules for matching a red to your skin tone: cool bluey reds should be worn by paler skin tones and warm orangey reds work better with olive-tanned skins.

Corals, it seems, can be worn by most people. But recently, there's been more room for debate. 'I don't confine red lipstick to skin tone,' says Terry Barber at MAC. 'A blue shade of red is more formal and grown up, whereas an orange red is a little bit more undone - and provides a good match for tousled and unkempt hair.'

Beware of red lipsticks if your teeth are on the yellow side - some bluey reds can make the teeth appear less white.
